-
- ENHANCEMENTS AND CHANGES TO DISKWATCHER FROM 3.1A to 3.2
-
- 1. Dynamic Connections are now allowed with Netware drives. How well this
- actually works depends of the version of Netware on the server, the
- version of Windows on the monitoring workstation, and the Netware drivers
- on the monitoring workstation.
-
- 2. Corrected a bug in DiskWatcher configuration. When the drive letter was
- entered in the Configuration Window, rather than placing the UNC Name
- into the UNC Name field, the drive letter was placed there instead.
-
- 3. In the Disk Space Usage Analyzer, analysis results are now stored in
- an Access 2.0 database, so you can review previous scans or
- manipulate the information with your own tools. The scans are indexed
- on Resource Name and Date/Time.
-
- 4. If the Disk Space Usage Analyzer is started without a command line, the
- Configuration Window which appears now offers the choice of running a
- new scan or viewing a previous one.
-
- 5. In the Disk Space Usage Analyzer Configuration Window, the "Description"
- text box has been relabeled as "Resource Name" since the data stored
- in the database will be keyed on this value.
-
- 6. When a graph is displayed, the Graph menu now has a new selection,
- "Fonts..." This displays a dialog box in which you can set the Title,
- Legend, and Label font sizes, styles, and families. Note, however,
- that these font options are taken as "suggestions" by the graph
- control, which then determines what it thinks is the best size.
-
- 7. You can now change the number of directories displayed on the graph at
- any time while the graph is displayed, using the Graph | Options menu
- choice.
-
- 8. The "Sort List By Size" menu option now sorts in DESCENDING order, which
- shows the largest subdirectories first.
-
- 9. Graphing now turns on the "Sort List By Size" option automatically.
-
- 10. In the Analysis Window "File" menu, selecting "Font Setup" to change the
- font used in printing reports also changes the font used in the listbox
- to display the directory names and size/file information.
-
- 11. The Current Selection area below the listbox in the Analysis Window
- always shows the total number of files and bytes in the highlighted
- directory and all of its subordinate directories combined.
-
- 12. When the "Limit List to Current Dir" menu option is NOT checked, each
- line in the listbox in the Analysis Window now shows the size of the files
- in that directory, the number of files in that directory, and the
- directory name.
-
- 13. When the "Limit List to Current Dir" menu option is checked, the entry
- for the "Current Dir" in question shows just the number of byes and files
- in that directory only, but each subordinate subdirectory shown in the
- list shows the number of files and bytes for all files in it and its
- subordinate directories combined.
-
- 14. When you display a pie graph for an analysis, a floating listbox appears.
- It contains an entry for each item in the graph's legend. When you
- select an item in the listbox, the corresponding piece of the pie is
- exploded.
-
- 15. MONITOR.DLL has been replaced with DWATCH.DLL.
-
- 16. A new custom control has been added (VLISTBOX.VBX) which will be
- installed into your Windows SYSTEM directory.
-
- 17. A new DLL, CALL32.DLL, will be installed into your Windows SYSTEM
- directory. It gives DiskWatcher greater functionality when run on a
- Windows NT workstation or server.
-
- 18. Added option to DiskWatcher Lite to display free space percentage as a
- line graph, which can display as many as the last 100 readings. This
- lets you see how your drive's free space has changed over time.
-
- 19. When run on an NT workstation or server, DiskWatcher, DiskWatcher Lite,
- and the Disk Space Usage Analyzer will use the NT API call to get a drive
- or volume's size and free space. This allows you to work around the DOS
- and Windows 3.x limitations.
-
- 20. Added new graphs for space usage by directory: Peak Daily, Peak Monthly,
- Average Daily, and Average Monthly. The Daily graphs show line graphs
- for the last 31 days, and the Monthly graphs show line graphs for the
- last 12 months.
-
- 21. Added an option for the Peak and Average line graphs which cause the
- program to fill in missing data with the last known good value.
-
-

-
- 1. Fixed some annoying bugs.
-
- 2. Converted everything to VB 4.0 16-bit in preparation for conversion
- to 32-bit.
